Mandibular cementifying fibroma and cementoblastoma: a case report

چکیده
We reported a case of a 10-year-old girl with cementifying fibroma and cementoblastoma co-existed in the right mandible. Her right mandible swelled and became asymmetry in one month. Radiographically, a radiopaqueradiolucent lesion in anterior site and a radiopaque mass in posterior site were revealed. With fibrous dysplasia (anterior lesion) and odontoma (posterior lesion) as our initially diagnosis, fenestration and resection surgery were performed, and finally the cementifying fibroma and cementoblastoma were confirmed by histopathology examination. Cementoblastoma is a slow-growing benign neoplasm originating from mesenchymal tissue, while cementifying fibroma arises from the periodontal ligament related to bone tissue. It is a rare case with these two lesions co-existed in the mandible.

Cemento-Ossifying fibromas are rare fibro-osseous lesions that affect the jaw bones and are included in the group of mesodermal odontogenic tumours. Clinically, it is a large asymptomatic tumor of aggressive appearance. Four separate categories have been identified: Periapical cemental dysplasia, benign cementoblastoma, cementifying fibroma and a rare gigantiform variety. It has been suggested ...
متن کاملBenign Cementoblastoma Involving Deciduous and Permanent Mandibular Molars: A Case Report
Cementoblastomas are rare benign odontogenic tumors. Diagnosis of these lesions must be made by an association of clinical, radiographic, and histopathological findings. Cementoblastomas rarely occur in both primary and permanent dentitions. We describe the sixth case of cementoblastoma in the literature with the involvement of both deciduous and permanent teeth. The aim of this case report is ...

This bone tumour consists of highly cellular, fibrous tissue that contains varying amounts of calcified tissue resembling bone, cementum o...
